Mercer Savings Bank hosts 11th annual shred day
CELINA — On Sept. 12 Mercer Savings Bank held its 11th annual Community Shred Day. Allshred Services was on site to assist with the event, which allowed people from Celina and the surrounding communities to witness the shredding of their documents. This year, 4,840 pounds of paper was collected.
“By holding this annual event, not only does Mercer Savings Bank support Allshred’s mission of ‘Be Clean, Go Green,’ it also allows Mercer Savings Bank — in this world of potential fraud and identity theft — to provide our communities with a safe and secure means of document disposal,” says Tim Bigham, vice president of operations.
This month’s recipient of the Mercer Savings Bank Giving Mission donation is Miami Valley Community Action Partnership (MVCAP) of Darke County.
MVCAP works with local communities to eliminate poverty while promoting personal independence and self-sufficiency. To achieve this, the organization offers numerous programs to help those with lower incomes achieve financial stability. Those seeking assistance can complete applications for programs such as rental assistance, eviction prevention, transportation services, or water and utility assistance.
“We pride ourselves in helping low income families,” says Julie Lecklinder, director of MVCAP. “We operate an emergency homeless shelter. We also have what’s called a homeless crisis response program where we can help homeless individuals or families with their first month’s rent and deposit.”
As a mutual bank, Mercer Savings Bank specializes in real estate lending and has served Mercer and Darke counties and surrounding communities since 1888.
