The St. Marys Fire Department responded to the following calls from Sept. 7 to

Sept. 13.

Sept. 7

• At 12:46 p.m., Utility 149 and Medic 7 responded to the 500 block of West Spring Street. A 67-year-old male was transporte­d to Lima Memorial Hospital. • EMS was called to the 900 block of Woodridge Drive at 2:21 p.m. and transporte­d a 77-yearold female to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.

• A 69-year-old male was transporte­d to JTDMH from the 2000 block of Cheshire Drive at 4:49 p.m.

• Engine 143 was called to the 1100 block of McKinley Road for a water-flow alarm activation at a factory. Crews found the building unoccupied and gained access to find water in the back portion of the building.

The factory’s sprinkler system was pressurize­d but was not activated at the time. Contact was made with the maintenanc­e crew who contacted the sprinkler system company. Water was determined to be caused by heavy rain coming in from outside.

• While on a call on the 1100 block of McKinley Roady, Engine 143 was dispatched to West Spring Street for a report of an occupied vehicle trapped in rising flood waters. Crews arrived, noting St. Marys Police was already on scene, and made their way to the vehicle but found it empty. Officers had evacuated the occupants and taken them

to safety.

Sept. 8

• At 1:27 a.m., firefighte­rs were called to the 900 block of Linden Avenue for a report of a tree on fire, likely caused by a lightning strike. Crews noted there were several homes without power and embers were falling from the tree but any fire had been extinguish­ed by the rain that was still falling. Advised dispatch to contact the electric department and fire crews returned to station.

• Utility 149 responded to the 100 block of West Spring Street at 1:41 a.m. for a smoke detector activation. Attempts to reset the alarm were unsuccessf­ul and repairs to the alarm system were requested.

• At 6:12 a.m., EMS was called to the 3600 block of Edgewater Drive. The 68-year-old female patient was not transporte­d by city units.

• Medic 7 responded to the intersecti­on of East Spring and Chestnut streets to evaluate a 14-year-old male who had been involved in a minor moped crash. The male was not transporte­d.

• Paramedics were dispatched to the 100 block of Ohio Street and transporte­d a 93-year-old female to JTDMH.

Sept. 9

• At 7:47 p.m., firefighte­rs were called to the 300 block of North Ash Street in reference to a gas odor. Upon entry, crews noted no odor was detected and all readings on the four-gas meter were normal. Resident was advised to call back if the odor returned.

Sept. 10

• EMS responded to the 3000 block of U.S. 33 for a motorcycle crash at 4:25 p.m. A 44-year-old male and 42-year-old female were transporte­d to JTDMH.

Sept. 11

• Paramedics were dispatched to the 300 block of Beech Street at 10:43 a.m. and transporte­d an 80-year-old male to JTDMH. • Medic 7 responded to the 03900 block of Glynwood Road and transporte­d a 54-year-old male to JTDMH at 4:37 p.m.

Sept. 12

• A 59-year-old male was transporte­d to JTDMH from the 03200 block of Markley Road at 9:13 a.m.

• EMS was called to the 600 block of East Spring Street at 11:02 a.m. and transporte­d a 66-year-old male to JTDMH.

Sept. 13

• At 7:52 a.m., EMS was dispatched to the 400 block of Fortman Drive and transporte­d a 25-year-old male to JTDMH. • Medic 7 responded to the 1000 block of Edwards Street at 9:37 a.m. and transporte­d an 80-year-old female to JTDMH. • A 69-year-old male was transporte­d to JTDMH from the 1200 block of Indiana Avenue at 7:06 p.m.

• Paramedics responded to the 700 block of West North Street at 8:32 p.m. and transporte­d a 3-year-old male to JTDMH.
