A large number of cars and other vehicles participated in a “Trump Parade” on Saturday.

Organizers counted 186 cars, 59 bikes, 10 golf carts, four tractors, a combine, a fire engine, a military-style truck and a lawn mower participated in the parade.

Organizer Dezirae Meier told participants because they didn’t get a police escort they had to obey traffic laws, be safe and to have a great time.

“We are here to support our president,” Meier said. She also led a prayer standing on top of “the Trump train.”

“Thank you for gathering everyone here to support our president. I know there has been tragic news that our president may have COVID or the flu, whatever you may want to call it,” Meier said. “We hope for a speedy recovery and that this president does great for the country.”

Brian Nyitray of Celina said Steffen Morgan owns the Trump train featured in the parade as well as Lake Shore Towing. He said the project took about an hour to put together since the train came from an aquaintance.

“We just thought it

was appropriate for the parade,” Nitray said. “(President Trump) is doing good for all of us.”

Dianne Weaver of the Wapakoneta area had an all-American outfit on and planned to ride a bike with her husband Paul.

“I just love America and we really like Trump and the good job he’s doing,” she said. “Our freedoms that have been taken away from us and slowly chipped away at is one of the things that is really important to us.”

Weaver said the Second Amendment was particularly important.

“He is helping our economy and he is fighting against crime,” Weaver said, adding she was impressed with a task force aimed at eliminating child sex trafficking, opiate trafficking and drugs.

Terry Leonard of Uniopolis made a sign for the back of his truck for QAnon with their catchphrase, Where We Go One We Go All.

“We agree with everything (Trump’s) done,” Leonard said.

“A coworker told me about (the parade). I love Trump — he is an amazing guy,” Damien Music of Lima said. “All the boys like Trump. I brought them: it’s just going to be a good time.”

Music noted building the border wall, not being overboard on his response to the coronavirus and keeping Americans free were his reasons for supporting Donald Trump.

“He is just doing a good job,” Music said.

Cullen Gibson said family members told him to come from Indiana; he used to live in Wapakoneta.

“We love this city,” Gibson said.

He commented on the president’s condition.

“I beat it, he’ll get out of it,” he said of the virus. “He’s very healthy. He’s not dead, he will rise and be at it again — go Trump!”
