Riders compete at Kalida Invite

KALIDA — The St. Marys Roughrider­s boys and girls cross-country teams placed in the top 10 on Saturday at the Wildcat Invitation­al.

The girls team finished sixth out of 11 schools, led by Ellen Schloemer’s fifth-place time of 19:56.8.

Maria Jutte placed 19th overall with her time of 21:32.4 and Karlie Lucas finished with a time of 22:40.6 for 38th place. Rounding out the scoring for the Riders were Raeh Wehnes (46th, 22:51.3), Liz Ackroyd (70th, 23:51.8) and Zoe Teeters (90th, 25:23.9).

Tyler Birt led the St. Marys’ boys team finished 10th out of 22 schools with a 21st-place time of 17:39.4.

Michael Crites followed with a time of 18:02.3 for 31st place and Robert Bayham ran with a time of 18:46.5 for 62nd place. Seth Brandt (66th, 18:50.1), Calvin Morris (70th, 18:53.0), Ray Walter (87th, 19:41.6) and Zach Spicer (94th, 20:07.5) rounded out the scoring for the Roughrider­s. 1. Van Wert 81; 2. INDIAN LAKE — The New Bremen Cardinals cross-country teams competed at the Indian Lake Invitation­al on Saturday.

The Cardinals girls team placed third and the boys took fifth.

Chloe Homan led the girls team with a fourth-place finish, followed by Caroline Whitlatch for eighth place. Patrick Bernhold led the boys with a 23rd-place finish and six runners finished under 20:00.

Individual times, however, were not made available.

BOTKINS — Rebecca Leffel led the New Knoxville Rangers cross-country team on Saturday at the Best In The West Invitation­al.

Leffel finished with a time of 23:16.60 for the 47thbest time in the invite. Ryan Osborne led the Rangers boys team with a time of 19:57.20, followed by Kaleb Putnam’s time of 20:20.70.
