New Bremen the 38-0 lead heading into the half.

The Trojans second drive of the night was the longest by either team, taking 8:51 off the clock.

The drive resulted in a Tanner Stoops 5-yard touchdown run.

New Bremen responded right away and on the first play of the fourth quarter, Hunter Schaefer carried it around the left side and outran the entire Trojans defense for an 80yard touchdown run.

Southeastern Local’s next drive resulted in a punting situation but their punter mishandled the snap and Schaefer jumped on it at the Trojans 9-yard line.

It took one play for the Cardinals and they were able to put more points on the board, this time sophomore Wokelle Googeg running it in for the score.

New Bremen’s 52 points on Friday night is the most points the Cardinals have scored in a game since 2004, when they defeated Troy Christian 55-27 in the first round of the Division VI Region 24 playoffs.

With a high scoring first half seemingly securing the win, New Bremen was able to play most of their players on Friday.

“It obviously says a lot about the work that people have put in to our program; coaches, players, boosters, parents, administration — that we can have a home playoff win by that margin and get a lot of kids in and everybody gets a chance to contribute,” said Schmidt.

With the win, New Bremen gets another home playoff game next week, this time against MAC opponent St. Henry.

St. Henry defeated Grove City Christian 47-7 on Friday.

“I voted them a lot higher than a six seed,” Schmidt said with a laugh. “I don’t know who else is voting and I don’t agree with them. They’re familiar with us and we’re familiar with them, even though we didn’t play each other this year. It will be knock down, drag out. It will be a MAC game that just happens to be in the playoffs.”
