Friday fire damages home
CRIDERSVILLE — Three dogs perished in a recent house fire outside the village of Cridersville.
The Cridersville Fire Department responded to a structure fire Friday at 6:31 p.m. at 16136 Seitz Road, with smoke coming from the rear of the house. Uniopolis and Perry Township departments were called in to provide mutual aid.
Cridersville Fire Chief Rick Miller said upon making entry into the house, firefighters encountered heavy fire in the utility room and kitchen. Two occupants, a father and a daughter, were uninjured although they lost clothing and medications in the fire.
Three family dogs were found deceased on the second floor of the house.
Firefighters worked together to put out the fire within 90 minutes. Miller was grateful for the mutual aid response. After the fire was extinguished there was heavy smoke damage throughout the structure.
Miller said the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, although a faulty appliance is suspected.
Auglaize County Emergency Management Agency Director Troy Anderson said donations can be directed to the Auglaize County Community Emergency Response Team’s Venmo account. He is also seeking donations of men’s pants in size 34W 29L with large shirts and women’s pants size 29W 32L with small shirts. Additionally women’s shoes size 71/2 and men’s boots size 91/2 are needed. Anderson encourages people to follow Auglaize County CERT on Facebook for additional information and donation requests.
