Last call nears for annual calendar photo submissions

-

In these sometimes troubling days, we want to know: what makes you happy?

The Wapakoneta Daily News and The Evening Leader are preparing to produce the annual Customer Calendar for 2021, said WDN Publisher Deb Zwez, and the process always involves determining a theme.

“In this time of the pandemic, coupled with the stress of the national election, unemployment, trying to figure out how to be safe at the holidays and all that, we knew we wanted to put together something our readers would be happy to see every day,” she said. “And since 2020 has been a bit of a downer, we wanted to put a positive spin on the new year.

“And instead of the newspaper staff trying to decide, we thought the easiest way to find positive images was to reach out and ask the question.”

Both newspapers are asking for photo submissions that answer the question: what makes you happy? It can be your happy place, people you spend time with, your pets, comfort food — there really are no limits.

Keep in mind photos should be in horizontal mode for them to look their best on a calendar page. Full color or black and white photos will be accepted and should have a sharp focus to allow for the best reproduction. Please submit the photos as jpegs.

The “best in show” photo will grace the cover of the calendar; each month will have a feature photo. “Honorable mentions” will be included as space permits.

“It’s our tradition to ask our readers to help us with the customer calendar, and I’m pleased we’re able to do that again this year,” Zwez said. “I’m looking to seeing what brings our local residents joy as we begin the holiday season.”

The deadline to receive photos is noon on Tuesday. Please send the photos to contest@ wapakwdn. com and be sure to include your name and contact number and a short description of the photo submitted.
