Following her faith

Minster grad starts her own Christian-based apparel business

MINSTER — As a collegiate athlete, one thing your life has is structure. From games to practices to meetings to academics, there is always something to be working on or toward.

Minster native Lauren Roetgerman was looking for that structure after an athletic career at Sinclair Community College.

Enter, The One Life Planner and Blog, Roetgerman’s latest business venture she started around a year ago and officially launched on Nov. 13.

In 2017 as a sophomore at Sinclair, Roetgerman founded her first business, a Christian athletic apparel company called Almighty One Athletics, after searching and asking God for an answer for her future.

“I wanted a way to get closer to God after [I left] the small towns,” said Roetgerman on Almighty One. “I wanted a way to help other college students

generate more faith as well. I didn’t really see a whole lot of Christian brands out there. It made sense when I had that feeling, to start it. Starting Almighty One and having such community support helped me have faith to start the next couple ventures.”

She was still searching for what was next in terms of a community and consistency to create a good routine to stay fit, active and healthy after college.

“I still wanted to have the discipline but I knew it was up to me now,” said Roetgerman.

Roetgerman wanted to do everything she could to succeed when she signed up for her first half marathon last December. That included a planner to track her runs, a gratitude and goal setting journal and an app on her smartphone.

She began to search for an all-in-one guide when she realized her attention.

“I dove into personal development, read a ton of books and watched so many things about highly successful habits,” said Roetgerman. “I took everything I gathered and created a guide. That’s how (The One Life Planner) kind of came about.”

One of the sections in the planner includes seven core habits for each week. She credits one of those habits, “intentional conversations,” in helping her expand her network and meeting new people since moving to another state after college.

Roetgerman told the Community Post it’s been a lot of trial and error getting the business started. With the network she’s built from Almighty One, Roetgerman has been able to send out prototypes to those that wanted to try out the planner.

With the concepts in mind and the help of two local graphic designers in Savannah Weigandt and Hallie Sherman, The One Life Planner and Blog came to life.

Helping The One Life Planner and Blog come to life also stems from Roetgerman making vision boards over the past couple of years to help her set goals and timelines for what she wanted to achieve.

“I noticed I had some pretty awesome dreams come to life because of those,” said Roetgerman. “That was kind of the base foundation because it helped me dream and set bigger goals. And then from there, just trying to take those big goals and making them achievable throughout the year.”

Roetgerman, for example, picked her top five dreams and broke those down into action steps for each of them. From there, those action steps were plugged into a weekly guide, and for Roetgerman, it meant setting one goal a day which helped her move everything forward with her businesses and healthy journey.

In addition to the planner itself, there are also blogs and how-to videos on the TheOneLifePlanner.com website to flesh out some of the things that go hand in hand with the product that is The One Life Planner and Blog.

“For anyone that wanted a coach like I wanted throughout and after college, I wished I had something like this,” said Roetgerman on what those blogs and how-to videos entail. “I wanted to be able to share tons of resources, to help people succeed. Some of them are fun, healthy recipes, others are my favorite books that started me learning about habits like different ways to save money for people.”

Looking back, Roetgerman told the Community Post that there were little clues that led to where she is now.

“My whole life I’ve always loved making things,” said Roetgerman. “When I was very young, I made bracelets and did the classic lemonade stands. I loved doing garage sales with my family and connecting with people, sharing products that could help them.

“Overall, it’s amazing to have the freedom and support. The biggest takeaway for growth for me has been the community and getting connected with people who like the brand and want to be a part of it.”

With the new year, The One Life Planner and Blog could be the start of people achieving some of their goals.

“I’m excited to start in January, for everyone to start it together and to see the change it makes in their lives,” said Roetgerman. “Some of the people that have been using the old prototypes have said it helped a lot. I’m excited to coach them and just put out good weekly content to help keep the motivation alive.”
