Roetgerman, Cordonnier lead Cardinals

ROCKFORD — New Bremen outscored Parkway 26-12 in the first half to lead them to a 47-33 Midwest Athletic Conference win on Thursday.

The Cardinals jumped out to a 15-3 lead by opening the game on a 9-0 run.

For the game, the New Bremen defense limited Parkway to 11-of49 (22%) shooting from the floor as the win marked the third straight victory for the Cardinals (7-6, 3-2 MAC)

Two players scored in double figures for the Cardinals with both Ellie Roetgerman and Madison Cordonnier both finishing with 11 points. Roetgerman also collected six rebounds while Cordonnier finished with five.

Kaylee Freund added seven points and four

boards. Gabrielle Stober led the way for Parkway with 12 points and five boards. Allison Hughes grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.

The Cardinals also won the junior varsity game 41-19.

New Bremen will host Versailles on Thursday.

The St. Marys junior high girls basketball team came out with victories in a pair of home games against Coldwater on Thursday.

The seventh-grade team, now 9-3, won 42-11.

All 10 players scored in the victory.

Sophie Menker paced the riders with nine points. Lauren Jacobs and Madi Steger each had six points. Logan Henschen contribute­d five points, while Bailey Greber and Ady Van De Keere each had four points. Ava Klosterman, Hannah Brackman, Izzy Cotterman, and Delanni Wilker each scored two points.

The eighth-grade Riders won 31-13.

Cadence Hirschfeld was an offensive threat leading the riders with 18 points. Reese Rable contribute­d eight points, while Alexis Shadrach and Kelly Imwalle had two points. Finishing out the scoring was Chloe Ott with one point as the team improved to 9-4.

The team travels to Marion

Local on Saturday.
