Ruth L. Moeller, 100, of New Bremen, died at 8:45 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 18, at the Elmwood Assisted Living in New Bremen, where she had been residing for the past few years. She was born on Feb. 4, 1920 in Continenta­l.

She was the daughter of the late Manford M. and Pearl M. (Power) Hazelton. On Oct. 19, 1946 she married J. Thomas “Tom” Moeller who died on Aug. 23, 1993. She is survived by her son and daughterin-law Robert and Lisa Moeller of New Bremen and her brother-inlaw and sister-in-law James and Pat Moeller of New Bremen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and her brother and sisterin-law Robert and Lucille Hazelton.

Ruth was a graduate of Continenta­l High School and a 1941 graduate of the Christ Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati. She served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during WWII, stationed in the Philippine­s, caring for others by using her skills as a nurse. After returning home from the service, she met her husband at the dance hall at the Russell Point Amusement Park. She continued working in the nursing profession, retiring from Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys after over 25 years of service.

Ruth generously donated her body to the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine for the intense study and specialize­d training of current medical students and future physicians.

Graveside memorial services will be held at a later date with inurnment at the German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen. Memorial contributi­ons in memory of Ruth can be made to the Grand Lake Hospice at 1122 E. Spring St., St. Marys, OH 45885.
