Riders sweep Indians

The St. Marys Roughrider­s boys and girls bowling teams swept Shawnee in a Western Buckeye League match on Monday at Varsity Lanes.

The Roughrider­s boys team defeated Shawnee 2,666-2,204 while the girls beat the Indians 2,2091,917.

Junior Hurley led the way with a 396 series, followed by Carter Monbeck with a 369 series, Jonathan Perez-Shinabery rolled a 355 and Cayden Monbeck with a 350 series.

Jack Boos finished with a 128 and Devin Shannon with a 163 in their one game bowled for the Roughrider­s (6-2, 4-1 WBL).

The Roughrider­s won the Baker games 905-773.

The St. Marys girls team was led by Tricia Yahl with a 385 series. Emily Pond rolled a 304 series and Lily Steinberg with a 283 series.

Rolling one game each for the Riders (6-3, 3-3) were Allyson Speckman (142), Ella Kable (189) and Chloe Gibson (142).

Both teams tied in the Baker games 749-749.

COLUMBUS — Both St. Marys Roughrider­s boys and girls bowling teams placed third on Saturday at the Buckeye High School Classic.

The Roughrider­s boys placed second in the team results with 4,258, behind Nordonia’s 4,324 pins. The Riders then fell to Health

in a best-of-three match, 214-189, 207-171 as Health ended up winning the tournament.

Devin Shannon led the Roughrider­s with a 589 series in three games to finish ninth place overall. He was followed by Junior Hurley with a 538 series, Cayden Ballweg with a 554 and Carter Monbeck with a 547 series.

Jack Boos rolled two games to finish with a 434 series.

The St. Marys girls team placed third overall with 3,415 pins, behind Boardman (3,664) and Gahanna Lincoln (3,837). The Riders lost in the opening round of the bracket play to Boardman 156-141, 223-179, 200-166. Gahanna

Lincoln won the tournament overall.

Chloe Gibson led the Roughrider­s girls team by placing fifth overall and notching all-tournament team honors. Three Roughrider­s finished 26th, 27th and 28th overall, beginning with Lily Steinberg with a 432 series, Emily Pond rolled a 430 and Tricia Yahl also finished with a 430.

Allyson Speckman rolled two games, finished with a 304 series and Ella Kable finished with a 112 in her lone game.

GAME

The Coldwater Cavalier handed New Bremen its first Midwest Athletic Conference loss with a 3,089-2,845 victory on Saturday.

Leading the way for the Cardinals (10-2, 6-1 MAC) were Nicholas Alig, who rolled a team-high 447 series, followed by Jack Wilson’s series of 395.

Maverick Nelson finished with a 386 and Jared Bergman rounded out the two-game series with a 360.

Rolling one game each were Wyatt Dicke (188) and Clint Voress (169).

It was a clean sweep for Coldwater as the girls team also took down New Bremen with a 2,4651,970 victory.

Katie Howell paced the Cardinals (4-6, 2-4) with a 311 series, followed closely by Emma Keller with a 309 series. Emma Bambauer rolled a 284 series and Callie Wells finished with a 266.

Rolling one game each for New Bremen were Lexa Steinke (118) and Megan Ritter (109).

The Minster boys bowling team fell to St. Henry in MAC action with a 2,702-2,638 defeat on Saturday.

Isaiah Vanderhors­t led the Wildcats (9-6, 3-4) with a 373 series, followed by Luke Lazier with a 354, Chandler Hoskins rolled a 345 series and Austin Moeller finished with a 321.

Rounding out the scoring for Minster were Brian Gonzalez (199) and Keetan Sharp (159).

The Wildcats won the Baker games 887-867.
