Marilyn E. Schmitmeyer, 84
Marilyn E. Schmitmeyer, 84, of Minster, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born March 3, 1936 in St. Marys, to the late Alvin and Anna (Heitbrink) Menker. She married Donald Schmitmeyer on June 1, 1957 at Holy Rosary Church, St. Marys. He survives in Minster.
She is also survived by children: Mark and Vicki Schmitmeyer of Dallas Texas, Doug and Karen Schmiteyer of Minster, Bruce Schmitmeyer of Minster and Jill and Michael Albers of Minster; seven grandchildren: Brian and Cassandra Schmitmeyer, Jennifer Schmitmeyer, Stephanie and Dale Bruns, Jessica and Nicholas Kobunski, Andrew and Morgan Albers, Jonathan Albers and Alex Schmitmeyer; five great-grandchildren: Morgan, Anna, Evan Schmitmeyer, Tate Bruns and Lillian Kobunski; brother Eugene Menker of Allen, Texas; sisters-in-law Martha and Cyril Thobe of Chickasaw and Mary Ann Schmitmeyer of Fort Loramie. She was preceded in death by grandson Matthew Schmitmeyer; brothers and sisters: Virginia and Les Schneider, Alfrieda and Donald Backs, Lavern and Jane Menker, Norman and Rosie Menker and Nan Menker; in-laws: sister Dorothy Schmitmeyer, CPPS, Roger Schmitmeyer, Jerry and Kathy Schmitmeyer and Urban Schlater.
She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster. She was a St. Marys Memorial High School graduate, an assistant manager at Adolph’s Restaurant and a longtime worker at Danone. She enjoyed decorating for every holiday, with treats always ready. She would never miss her grandchildren activities. Later, she enjoyed card club as well as camping and fishing with her husband Donald.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery, Minster. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster on Friday, March 5. Visitors are asked to follow CDC guidelines at request of the family please wear a mask and keep social distancing.
