Marilyn E. Schmitmeye­r, 84, of Minster, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born March 3, 1936 in St. Marys, to the late Alvin and Anna (Heitbrink) Menker. She married Donald Schmitmeye­r on June 1, 1957 at Holy Rosary Church, St. Marys. He survives in Minster.

She is also survived by children: Mark and Vicki Schmitmeye­r of Dallas Texas, Doug and Karen Schmiteyer of Minster, Bruce Schmitmeye­r of Minster and Jill and Michael Albers of Minster; seven grandchild­ren: Brian and Cassandra Schmitmeye­r, Jennifer Schmitmeye­r, Stephanie and Dale Bruns, Jessica and Nicholas Kobunski, Andrew and Morgan Albers, Jonathan Albers and Alex Schmitmeye­r; five great-grandchild­ren: Morgan, Anna, Evan Schmitmeye­r, Tate Bruns and Lillian Kobunski; brother Eugene Menker of Allen, Texas; sisters-in-law Martha and Cyril Thobe of Chickasaw and Mary Ann Schmitmeye­r of Fort Loramie. She was preceded in death by grandson Matthew Schmitmeye­r; brothers and sisters: Virginia and Les Schneider, Alfrieda and Donald Backs, Lavern and Jane Menker, Norman and Rosie Menker and Nan Menker; in-laws: sister Dorothy Schmitmeye­r, CPPS, Roger Schmitmeye­r, Jerry and Kathy Schmitmeye­r and Urban Schlater.

She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster. She was a St. Marys Memorial High School graduate, an assistant manager at Adolph’s Restaurant and a longtime worker at Danone. She enjoyed decorating for every holiday, with treats always ready. She would never miss her grandchild­ren activities. Later, she enjoyed card club as well as camping and fishing with her husband Donald.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery, Minster. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster on Friday, March 5. Visitors are asked to follow CDC guidelines at request of the family please wear a mask and keep social distancing.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Grand Lake Hospice. Condolence­s may be left at HogenkampF­H.com.
