WAPAKONETA — After a quick moving transition, Auglaize Embroidery has new owners as Judy Dubois is retiring from that business.

Brian and Christy Bailey are expanding on their Lima uniform business, Bailey’s Equipment, while keeping all aspects of Auglaize Embroidery.

Brian Bailey said they focus on uniform design for most of Northwest Ohio including several police and fire departments.

“Judy and I actually had the same accountant,” Bailey said, explaining how he found out about the opportunity.

The process started in December and was finalized in just three months.

“We want to keep what Judy was doing, with all of her customers businesses-wise,” Bailey said. They will continue to assist with school fundraisers as the business has in the past. He also wants to bring more uniform business to the local area.

“We kind of know what businesses are looking for,” Bailey said.

DuBois had started selling masks last year due to the pandemic. Bailey said they have had to reorder masks because they are “flying off of the shelves”. He said that more organizations are wanting masks with a logo on it as part of their uniform. Bailey also said school logo masks have been selling well.

DuBois said she would help the Baileys through the transition phase.

“I was ready to get away from the embroidery business. I’ve done this for 28 years,” DuBois said. “It was a great business, I loved everything about it, but it consumes your life.”

However, she isn’t ready to quit working.

DuBois will be opening a second Scoops location in St. Marys at the former Tastee Treat location near Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.

“I used to take my kids there all the time,” she said. “It was a great little location, it’s by the hospital, it’s by the park; there is nothing on that end of town.”

She’s looking forward to a spring opening.

“We’ve completely gutted it. We are redoing it, and hopefully we will open mid-April there,” DuBois said.
