The St. Marys Area Resource Team (SMART) and the St. Marys Community Public Library (SMCPL) are preparing something special for downtown on April 3 in the form of the Bunny Trail and Story Walk.

Kids are expected to follow a trail of bunny footprints on the sidewalk and on individual businesses that in the event.

The event was supposed tho have taken place last April, but due to COVID restrictions, it had to be canceled. The event specified for this year is considered to be much simpler than it was originally going to be, with SMART intending to get people out for some fun and generate interest in the downtown area as a whole.

The Bunny Trail will be mostly contained on Spring Street and certain select business. It will be free to all that attend and conducted between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on April 3.

The SMCPL, along with the St. Marys Chamber of Commerce, has planned the Story Walk to go in conjunction with the Bunny Trail. are participating

This event will focus on following the trail of a story through downtown, with 17 businesses said to be participating. It is up to viewers to find all the pages and answer a question based on the story.

As an added bonus, anyone that answers the question will have their name added to a drawing that will be done on April 3. The winner will be given a prize depending on the results of the drawing.

After the Story Walk ends, the storybook signs will be kept up either until the end of April or the middle of May.

Another one will be held in June, going along with the summer reading theme “One hundred years of Tails and Tales,” in reference to their upcoming 100 year anniversary. It is said that if all goes well, another one might be held in the winter.

If anyone is interested in these or future events, make sure to come on down to downtown St. Marys on the date, and make sure to stop by any businesses that catch your interest.
