St. Marys downs Flyers

ST. MARYS -- The St. Marys softball team recorded an 8-6 win over visiting Marion Local in nonleague action on Monday afternoon.

The game was tied in the sixth inning when Emma Birt singled to score a run.

The Lady Roughrider­s had scored one in the first and four in the third before the Lady Flyers rallied.

Karsyn McGlothen went the distance to get the victory. She allowed five hits and struck out five.

Renee Sweigart, McGlothen, Kiley Tennant, Birt, and Lininiger all had hits in the win.

St. Marys, now 4-1 on the season, will travel to Celina today for the first Western Buckeye League contest of the 2021 season.

In other action: SOFTBALL Lehman Catholic 14, New Bremen 6

NEW BREMEN -New Bremen fell to visiting Lehman Catholic in a nonleague game on Monday.

Alayna Ross took the loss for New Bremen, allowing 12 hits and three walks. She had four strikeouts.

Alayna Thieman, Kyla Stachler and Emma Keller each had two hits for the Lady Cardinals. Madi Lozier had one.

Lehman Catholic scored in five of the seven innings. New Bremen got two in the first, and single runs in the fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh.

Minster 11, Covington 1

MINSTER -- Minster defeated Covington 11-1 in five innings.

The Lady Wildcats got one run in the first, four in the fourth, and six in the fifth, triggering the 10-run rule.

Emma Goubeaux had three hits and three RBI. Alexis Bishop had two hits and drove in three runs. Also getting RBIs were Kaycie Albers, Mikaela Hoskins, Hailee Albers, and Alayna Albers. Minster had a total of 13 hits in the game.

Rachael Hoying threw all five innings to get the win. She allowed

three hits and two walks, and struck out five.

BASEBALL New Knoxville 6, Waynesfiel­d-Goshen 1

WAYNESFIEL­D -New Knoxville defeated Waynesfiel­d-Goshen 6-1 in a nonleague game Monday.

The Rangers scored two runs in the first inning.

They added three in the second with Brandon Smith, Max Henschen and Waterman driving in the runs. They would then get one more in the fourth.

Smith got the win for the Raangers. He allowed one hit and struck out 15 as he went the full seven innings.

Henschen, Patrick Covert and Luke Stachler all had multiple hits.

W-G scored its run in the first inning.

St. Marys 5, New Bremen 1

NEW BREMEN -St. Marys recorded a 5-1 win over New Bremen in a nonleague matchup.

The Roughrider­s scored two in the third, two in the fourth and one in the sixth.

The Cardinals got their only run in the third.

Ty Kiehl threw a complete game to get the win. He allowed two hits. He walked five and struck out six.

Adam Tobin, Dylan Trogdlon, Logan Hale, and Tanner Howell each had two hits for St Marys.

For New Bremen Kyle Tenkman pitched five innings and Wyatt Dicke threw two. Tenk man allowed 10 hits and five walks. Dicke gave up one hit and two walks Each struck out two.

Ben Blickle and Colton Muether had the two hits for New Bre men.

BOYS TENNIS Greenville defeated St. Marys 4-1 in a non league match on Mon day.

St. Marys’ double team of Milner and Wibbeler won 6-1, 6-3 while Greenville won the three singles match es and the other double match.
