The New Bremen Cardinals hosted the Parkway Panthers in Midwest Athletic Conference action and dominated the first half before rolling to the 20-0 victory. Aaron Schmitmeyer got the scoring underway in the opening quarter with an 18-yard touchdown run, while a 44-yard run by Matt Hudson and a 27-yarder from Andy Hudson was all the Cardinals needed in the second quarter to improve to 4-1 on the season and even their record in the MAC at 1-1.

Although they suffered a defeat, the New Bremen football program had a historic week as they played in their first-ever allvarsity football contest. The Cardinals fell to North Baltimore by a final of 40-0. Head coach Gene Brindise’s club rostered no seniors and were prepared to join the Tri-County League in 1972, but squared off against their first varsity opponent and fell to 2-11 on the season. The Cardinals gained 14 first downs in the contest and accumulated 121 total yards.
