John E. Moeller, 68

John E. Moeller, 68, of rural St. Marys, passed away peacefully at 2:29 p.m. on Saturday in the Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys, with his family at his side.

John was born Sept. 27, 1953 in St. Marys, the son of the late Richard E. and Wilma Knatz Moeller. On March 12, 1977 he married Debra Seibert at Zion Lutheran Church, and she survives in St. Marys.

Also surviving are his in-laws: Jean (Ralph) Stueve of Minster and Beverly (Jerry) Hoenie of Rockford; close niece Missy (Justin) Schmitmeye­r of Minster and nephew Jason Stueve of Osgood and several nieces and nephews. His sister-in-law Judy Ann Schweitzer passed away recently.

He was a graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. He was a lifelong farmer and had worked at Landmark, Streakers in Minster and Detjen Grain in Moulton as a combine mechanic. John never knew a stranger and passed on advice to many people in regards to machinery repairs over the years. He enjoyed restoring tractors and making them look like new.

John was a member of the St. Marys Township Fire Department, the St. Marys Township Zoning Board, the Buzzard Baiters Flying Club and Buckeye Farm Antiques. Above all, he enjoyed farming, going to tractor shows, tractor pulls, flying his Radio Controlled Air Planes and his cat, Panda.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencervil­le with Pastor Tom Shobe officiatin­g. Burial will follow in the New Salem Cemetery, South of Monticello.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday and after 10 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
