Ellen J. “Jay” Siegel, 64, of New Bremen, died at 3:10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, 2021 at the Soin Medical Center, Beavercree­k. She was born on May 11, 1957 in Troy, Ohio, the daughter of the late Jay Sipple and Charlene Hess. On May 17, 1975, she married Michael E. Siegel and he survives in New Bremen.

Also surviving are her children: Melanie (Chad) Grillot of Minster, Jacquline (Nabjut Sing) Gill of Dayton and Christophe­r Siegel of Whitehouse, Ohio; her grandchild­ren: Victoria, Olivia, Maddison, Owen, Emma, Carly, Krista and Antonio; and her siblings; Deb Albers, Rob (Barb) Robbins, Bob Robbins, all of Fort Loramie and Rodney (Michelle) Robbins of Anna.

Jay was known for her cooking and entertaini­ng and enjoyed it so much that she catered for different weddings and parties in the area for a number of years. She also loved traveling to check out new restaurant­s and tasting each place’s unique menu items. Walking the countrysid­e ditches and fence rows picking red and black berries with her family was a yearly activity along with countless times camping and fishing at Lake Loramie.

She loved spending time with her grandchild­ren, attending and participat­ing with them in their activities. Jay was a seamstress her entire life, working for several different companies over the years and also making alteration­s and repairs on clothing for neighbors and friends throughout the years.

The family will be hosting a visitation gathering from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 4, at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen with a prayer service being held at 5:30 p.m. with Deacon Greg Bornhorst officiatin­g. The family will then be hosting a reception at the Speedway Lanes following the gathering. The family requests that memorial contributi­ons in Ellen’s name be made to the His Hands Extended Sanctuary, 1560 Dialton Rd, Saint Paris, OH 43072.
