Brown announces more than $4.6 million to improve Northwest Ohio airports
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Thursday, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the United States Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded six grants to city governments, county governments, and organizations located in Northwest Ohio, totaling $4,607,779. The funds will be used to help make necessary repairs to airports and their critical infrastructure.
“Ohio airports are vital infrastructure supporting travel and commerce in our state,” said Brown. “These investments will provide Northwest Ohio airports with the resources they need to ensure the safety of their passengers and support the local economy for years to come.”
DOT funds include:
• $1,687,036 grant to Sandusky County Regional Airport Authority and County Commissioners to reconstruct 6,000 square yards of the existing Apron A pavement to extend its useful life.
• $185,400 grant to Fulton County Board of Commissioners to perform sealing, crack repair, and joint filling to 3,882 feet of the existing runway surface to extend the pavement’s useful life.
• $250,200 grant to Putnam County Board of Commissioners and Putnam County Airport Authority to perform sealing, crack repair, and joint filling to the airport’s existing apron surface, apron pavement, and taxi lane surface to extend the pavements’ useful life.
• $2,055,732 grant to the City of Findlay in Hancock County to reconstruct 11,000 square yards of the airport’s existing north apron pavement that has reached the end of its useful life.
• $141,660 grant to Allen County Regional Airport Authority and Board of Commissioners to install a replacement Runway 10 precision approach path indicator to make the airport more accessible by improving the approach to the runway end.
• $287,751 grant to Auglaize County Board of Commissioners to update an existing airport master plan study to reflect the future needs of the airport.
