Joan Rosa (Winner) Holdheide, 87, of Fort Loramie, passed away peacefully of natural causes early Monday morning, June 6, 2022, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys. She was born July 13, 1934, in Frenchtown to the late Joseph and Anna (Schulze) Winner. On Oct. 9, 1954 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Frenchtown, Joan married Ralph F. Holdheide who preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 2010. Surviving are four children: James Holdheide of Fort Loramie, Diane and Nick Bensman of New Bremen, Carol Holdheide of New Bremen and Joel Anderson of Celina and Dave and Sharon Holdheide of Fort Loramie; four of five grandchild­ren: Kevin Bensman and Sarah McManus, Kelli and Alan Wuebker, Kyle Bensman (dec.), Emily Holdheide and Alan Holdheide; brothers and sisters-in-law: Wilfred Albers of Celina, Jerry Holdheide of Newport, Werner and JoAnn Holdheide of St. Henry, Paul and Rosalie Holdheide of Maria Stein and Leonard and Marilyn Holdheide of St. Rose along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four siblings (and spouses): Urban and Rita Winner, Rita and Gregor Holthaus, Mildred and Leonard Prenger and infant Wilfred Winner as well as brothers and sisters-in-law: Alvin Holdheide, Wilma Albers and Velma Holdheide.

In 1952 Joan graduated from Versailles High School. She retired from Holdheide Electric and Dairy where she had been the office manager for 25 years. Joan was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church where she had been a Eucharisti­c distributo­r, prayer line volunteer and funeral choir member. She also belonged to St. Ann’s Ladies Sodality and had been an active volunteer for FISH and Holy Angels Soup Kitchen. Joan was a very social person. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and family. She was also a member of the happy homemakers group. She participat­ed in chair volleyball and enjoyed many years of traveling. She was also dedicated to her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchild­ren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2022, at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie with Rev. Steven Shoup presiding. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
