Lady Riders grind out victory over Minster

The St. Marys and Minster girls basketball teams had a defensive battle on Tuesday, with the Lady Roughrider­s getting a 23-19 nonleague victory at the Horseshoe.

Morgan Hesse had nine points, and Reese Rable had five for St. Marys (11-7).

For the Lady Wildcats (9-8), Lilly Barhorst scored 10 and Katie McClurg had six.

The teams were tied at 12 at halftime. St. Marys had 11 to Minster’s seven in the third and fourth.

Both teams play again tonight. St. Marys will host Kenton, while Minster takes on St. John’s at Wildcat Gym.

New Bremen 40, Celina 30

NEW BREMEN —

The Cardinals got their third straight win, beating Celina at home.

New Bremen is now 9-5 on the season.

Evan Eyink had eight points, and Hayden Zeller scored seven.

New Bremen led by four after one period, and was up 15-8 at the half. They extended the lead in the third, with the fourth being a draw.

New Bremen (3-2 MAC, 9-5) returns to league action Friday at New Knoxville.
