Swim team does well at meet

MINSTER — The St. Marys swim and dive team honored senior members at a meet held this past Saturday at the Auglaize-Mercer YMCA.

The boys team took first place out of nine teams, and the girls were third in a field of 11.

Senior divers are Taylor Ott, Claire Overley and Tagen Patterson. Swimmers are Morgan Rempfer, Raeh Wehnes and Jackson Monroe.

In the girls’ diving, Overley, Patterson and Mataya Patterson were second through fourth.

Dylan Hertenstei­n and Luke Hertenstei­n were the top two placers in the boys’ diving competitio­n.

GIRLS

Peyton Gabel was third in the 50 freestyle and fourth in the 100 freestyle.

Sophie James took first in the 500 free (6:19.30) and fourth in the 50 free.

Ciera Rupert had two wins, one in the 100 butterfly (1:08.32) and also in the 100 breaststro­ke (1:12.73).

Wehnes was fifth in the 500 free, and Zara Spees placed eighth in the 100 breaststro­ke.

In relay events, James, Rupert, Gabel, Zara Spees were second in the 200 medley relay. Rupert, Madison Milner, James and Gabel finished third in the 200 free relay.

BOYS

Bradey Triplett was first in the 200 freestyle (2:00.14) and second in the 100 backstroke.

Marcus McClain swept the 50 (23.61) and 100 free (52.36). Reese Triplett was second in the 50.

Griffin Luebke had wins in the 100 butterfly (1:00.31) and 100 breaststro­ke (1:08.37).

In relays, McClain, Jaxton Spees, Reese Triplett and Bradey Triplett took first in the 200 medley relay (1:48.74).

Monroe, Dylan Hertenstei­n, Brian Speckman and Andrew Monroe were seventh in that event.

In the 200 free relay, Reese Triplett, Luebeke, Bradey Triplett and McClain were first (1:37.34). The combo of Dylan Hertenstei­n, Monroe, Luke Hertenstei­n and Spees were sixth.

Reese Triplett, Spees, Monroe and Speckman placed fourth in the 400 free relay.

Also scoring team points were Speckman who was fifth in the 200 free and sixth in the 100 backstroke; Luke Hertenstei­n (seventh, 200 individual medley); Monroe (sixth, 100 free); and Spees (fifth, 100 breaststro­ke).

The Western Buckeye League meets will be held this week. Diving will take place on Thursday and swimming on Saturday. Both will be held at Napoleon.
