Vote for First Florida Credit Union Athlete of Week

Providence’s Jaden Jablonski is the Florida Times-Union’s latest First Florida Credit Union Athlete of the Week for the 2023-24 high school sports season, covering the week of April 1-6 in the Jacksonvil­le area.

The sophomore attacker recorded 14 goals, two assists and six ground balls to lead the Stallions to wins over Atlantic Coast and Paxon.

He placed first in a vote of top Northeast Florida performers that included Kristina Campbell (Nease softball), Ryann Frechette (Bartram Trail girls lacrosse), Carson McFarlin (Creekside baseball), Tyra Pierce (Ed White flag football), Tyrone Summerall (Mandarin boys track), Kyndal Turner (Paxon girls track), Sam Wainwright (Suwannee boys weightlift­ing) and Katie Wong (Stanton girls tennis).

This week’s voting begins Monday morning and closes at 10 a.m. Thursday. Votes are restricted to once per device per hour. Vote at jacksonvil­le.com/ sports.

Here’s the nominees from April 8-13.

Shaylen Byrd, Baldwin softball

The senior pitcher struck out 17 batters over 10 scoreless innings to help Baldwin to the Gateway Conference championsh­ip, while batting .600 at the

plate with two RBI.

Bryson Harnage, University Christian baseball

The junior batted .636 with three doubles, a home run and four RBI in UC’s wins against Stanton, Ribault and Union County.

Ella Hill, Tocoi Creek girls lacrosse

The sophomore attacker scored a career-high seven goals to help the Toros overcome Gainesvill­e Buchholz 22-17 in the District 3-2A tournament.

Vincent Jackson, Ponte Vedra boys track

The senior set a new personal record of 196 feet, 1 1/2 inches to win the boys javelin at the Beachside Battery Invitation­al, recording Florida’s No. 4 distance.

Lee Krotee, Bolles boys lacrosse

The senior scored four goals and four assists in the Bulldogs’ first-round district victory against Paxon.

Teaghan Moses, Clay flag football

The quarterbac­k threw both touchdown passes to lead the Blue Devils past Menendez 13-0 for the district championsh­ip.

Kyla Skinner, Mandarin girls track

The sophomore ran a personal-best 24.72 to win the 200-meter dash at the Tocoi Creek Toro Showdown, and also won the 100.

Abhinav Sriram, Stanton boys tennis

The senior won his singles and doubles matches to lead the Blue Devils past Ponte Vedra in a Duval-St. Johns County battle.
