Series recap: The Jumbo Shrimp split their home series with the struggling Charlotte Knights, winning three of the first four before dropping the Saturday and Sunday games. Jacksonville pitchers were hit hard Saturday (seven extrabase hits) and got wild on Sunday

(eight walks).

Highlight: In a pitchers’ duel Wednesday, Jonathan Davis came through with the game-winning RBI for the Jumbo Shrimp. His single pushed Jacksonville in front 2-1, and the bullpen shut down the Knights afterward.

Crustacean sensation: Acquired off waivers April 4 from the San Francisco Giants organization, Otto Lopez has been next to impossible to retire when in a Jumbo Shrimp uniform.

The 25-year-old infielder from the Dominican Republic is batting .556 with the Jumbo Shrimp, including four doubles, two home runs and a 1.526 OPS.

On deck: It’s been rough seas of late for the Tides, Triple-A affiliates of the Baltimore Orioles. Norfolk began 7-1 before plummeting into a long-lasting losing streak, mostly the result of pitching woes (a 6.14 ERA). They’ve lost their last seven. While Jackson Holliday’s call-up last week to Baltimore denies Jacksonville fans the chance to see baseball’s No. 1 prospect in action, the Tides still have some hard-hitting young talent, including corner infielder Coby Mayo (.369/.417/.692) and Heston Kjerstad (.361/.438/.770). Kjerstad already has seven homers and 27 RBI in 15 games. Ballpark fun: The week begins with the annual Education Day for Jacksonville-area schools on Tuesday morning. Among other events on the weekly schedule: Inopportune Laugh Track Night on Thursday, EDM Poetry Slam Rave Night on Friday and Dog Day on Sunday, preceded by a pregame Bark & Brew.

Probable pitchers Tuesday: Patrick Monteverde (2-0, 2.70) for Jacksonville meets a Norfolk starter to be determined.
