Northern Colorado Big Sky basketball schedules released

Men and women open seasons facing Weber State

- By Jadyn Watson Fisher

Big Sky basketball schedules are out and things will be a little different in the upcoming year for the University of Northern Colorado.

The men’s and women’s teams will play an 18game round robin format, following the departure of Southern Utah. They will play the league tournament from March 4-8 in Boise, Idaho.

UNC men’s basketball will start its conference season on the road Dec. 29 at Weber State before a New Year’s Eve contest at Idaho State.

The Big Sky home opener is set for Jan. 5 against Montana State.

Northern Colorado will end the regular season at home against Northern Arizona and Idaho State.

The women’s basketball schedule is the opposite of the men’s. They will play at home against Weber State and Idaho State on Dec. 29 and Dec. 31, respectively.

UNC will start the road games on Jan. 5 at Montana State and end the league schedule at NAU and ISU.

The men’s team will feature Daylen Kountz and Matt Johnson, both returning for their final year of eligibility.

On the women’s side, UNC’s roster will look quite a bit different after losing several players to graduation and a handful of others to the transfer portal. Sharpshooter Hannah Simental, however, is set to return.

The non-conference schedules and final rosters will be released in the coming months.
