U.S. Senate honors Colorado Avs on Stanley Cup win at behest of Hickenlooper, Bennet
Colorado’s senators got their colleagues to recognize the Colorado Avalanche as the national champions with a resolution approved Wednesday night by the U.S. Senate.
The Colorado Avalanche brought home the Stanley Cup with their 2-1 Game 6 win on the road against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Sen. John Hickenlooper and Sen. Michael Bennet sponsored a resolution congratulating the Avs on their triumphant postseason, in which they defeated the Nashville Predators, St. Louis Blues and Edmonton Oilers to advance to the Stanley Cup Final. The resolution passed unanimously.
“After 21 long years, the Avs brought the Stanley Cup home to Colorado,” said Hickenlooper. “Our celebration has just begun! Go Avs Go!”
“Colorado couldn’t be more excited that the Avalanche won its third Stanley Cup in franchise history,” said Bennet. “On behalf of Colorado, Senator Hickenlooper and I are delighted to pass this resolution to celebrate the team’s incredible victory this year. Go Avs, go!”
