-

Darrell Ernest Schocke, 88 of Fort Morgan, passed away peacefully Wednesday February 1st, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family after a 7-year battle with dementia. He was born December 9th, 1934 to Harold & Verdie Schocke.

Darrell married the love of his life, Alma Jean Temple on October 1st, 1955. They had three children: Doug, Dale and Diane. He was blessed with five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Darrell will be remembered for his love for dirt, excavation, and heavy equipment. He worked and ran Schocke Land Leveling for most of his life. His family noticed his dementia progressing and for safety reasons he officially retired at 82 years old. Darrell left his mark on the ground all over Morgan County and surrounding counties all over Colorado.

He was strong, compassionate, hardworking, detail oriented and definitely ornery. He was a man of incredible strength and strong-will up until his last breath.

He made sure his family came first and even with his dementia diagnosis he was caring, sweet and worry free up until the very end of his life.

Before dementia, Darrell enjoyed camping with his family and friends, long motorcycle trips on his and Alma's Gold Wing all over the United States with their motorcycle clan, wood working and gardening.

Even with his dementia diagnosis and its progression, you could often find him catching some sunshine on the deck on his home, counting trucks on the interstate or the boats (aka airplanes) in the sky, sitting at the kitchen table playing solitaire on his iPad, or napping in his recliner chair.

Darrell is survived by his three children:

Doug & Dale Schocke and Diane Schacht (Schocke) all of Fort Morgan; five grandchildren: Jenn (Matt) Lunt of

Loveland, Renee (Russ) Kleensang of Lubbock, Texas, Douglas Schocke of Fort Morgan, Brad Schacht of Loveland, and Macy Schocke of Fort Morgan and four great grandchildren: Parker and Paxton Kleensang and Paisley and Kinsley Lunt.

He is preceded in death by his wife Alma, his parents Harold and Verdie Schocke, his sister Leona Yearous, daughter-in-law Lisa Schocke and infant son Allen Schocke.

A service will be held to celebrate his life on Friday February 10th, 2023 at 10:30am at the United Methodist Church, 117 E Bijou

Ave in Fort Morgan. There will be a luncheon to follow at the church. Cremation will follow and a private inurnment will be held at Serenity Falls Columbarium at a later date.

We can all be rest assured that the precious roads and grounds will be perfect, as we have the master of dirt work leveling heaven.
