Programs for kids of all ages offered
The library has programs for every age and we’re excited to introduce our new tween program, TweenSpace! For any who may not be familiar with the term, a “tween” is a preteen or young teenager. Our tween program is a library club for kids in grades 5-8. Participants will form teams of two or three and compete in fun challenges over the course of three months this spring. They will be reading “Walk Two Moons” by Sharon Creech, “Flora & Ulysses” by Kate DiCamillo, and “Wolf Hollow” by Lauren Wolk.
The group will then meet each first Friday of the month March through May. On March 3 tweens will participate in a scavenger hunt. On April 7 they will gather to watch a movie. Finally, on May 5, tweens will compete against library staff in a book trivia challenge on these three titles!
Of course, if this isn’t the right age group for your favorite kids, we have several other program options! Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. and Friday mornings at 10:15 a.m. kids ages 5 and under can read, sing, and craft at Story Time. Kids in Kindergarten through sixth grade can try their hands at a variety of fun activities from STEM-themed creations like a tiny catapult, to crafts to board games every Friday from 1 until 2 at FUNtastic Friday.
We also have TAG
(Teen Advisory Group) Team events on second and fourth Mondays each month from 6:15 until 7:45 p.m. The teens enjoy a variety of activities from their annual chili cook-off, to game nights, to their upcoming No Brainer Big Breakfast Bash on Feb. 27 where they will enjoy a smorgasbord of breakfast foods. These events are open to teens in grades 6-12.
