BICYCLE ADVENTURE TO HOST RIDE-AND-BIKE EVENT

- By Special to The Times

Bicycle Adventure in Fort Morgan was born out of a passion for bicycles and bicycle travel in the beautiful state of Colorado, the country, and the rest of the world.

Richard Lapp, the owner of Bicycle Adventure, wanted to put a good bicycle into everyone’s hands to enjoy the freedom and good health that bicycling brings and 2023 will be no exception.

They decided to start a yearly event to make bikes available to more people. They invited students in all the third-grade classes in Morgan County to draw their favorite Bicycle Adventure, color it and turn it into their teacher. Judges of the contest will include three mayors and four school superintendents.

The six winners of the contest will earn a Trek 24” Precaliber Hard Trail Mountain bike.

Additionally, Bicycle Adventure will conduct a familyfriendly bike ride with one-mile, two-mile, and five-mile options for kids on April 1. The event is free to children.

They will also have a 15-20 mile ride for more experienced kids and adults. The ride has a $25 entry fee which will benefit “Kids at their Best,” a youth organization determined to enhance today’s youth to be all they can be.

The ride-and-bike giveaway will start at City Park, “Glenn Miller Park” at 1 p.m. on April 1, and rides will start in a staggered affair with the longest ride leaving first. The rides will showcase all the beautiful parks in Fort Morgan, both the nature trails and Twamore Trail, Rainbow Bridge, and the Fort Morgan Fieldhouse. Rides will all end at City Park where participants will receive a ride T-shirt and finishers’ medals which will entitle them to a free scoop of ice cream at Mosqueda Ice Cream Parlor on the day of the race.

Join them at Bicycle Adventure to celebrate the accomplishment of all the participating children and celebrate springtime and new life and beginnings in Fort Morgan.

Stop in at the bike shop, located at 319 Main Street, and get in on all the fun and action and test drive and buy a new Trek, Electra, or Havo bicycle. They also have a selection of reconditioned used bicycles ready to go and ride.

They also want to thank all their sponsors — without them, it would be impossible to make the dreams of others come true.
