European roundup: Bellingham on target as Real Madrid sweep aside Cádiz

-

Real Madrid’s Rodrygo struck twice and Jude Bellingham was also on target as the visitors enjoyed a 3-0 win at Cádiz in La Liga on Sunday to move to the top of the standings.

Real went ahead after 14 minutes when Rodrygo cut into the area and fired a superb shot into the top-right corner. The Brazilian got his second in the 64th with another fine shot after finding space in the box before Bellingham sealed the win 10 minutes later with his 11th league goal this season.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side are now on 35 points, one clear of second-placed Girona, who host Athletic Bilbao on Monday. Atlético Madrid are third, having also played a game fewer than Real, level on 31 points with Barcelona, who slipped to fourth after a 1-1 draw at Rayo Vallecano on Saturday.

Sevilla had two players sent off late on as they lost 2-1 at Real Sociedad, who kept up their top-six challenge. An early own goal from Marko Dmitrovic and Umar Sadiq’s strike fired the home side ahead at half-time. Youssef EnNesyri pulled a goal back on the hour, but the visitors finished with nine men following late red cards for Jesús Navas and Sergio Ramos.

A first league hat-trick from José Luis Morales ensured Villarreal defeated Osasuna 3-1 to give their new manager, Marcelino, a winning start to his second spell in charge. In Sunday’s late kick-off, an early goal from Willian José was enough for Real Betis to beat Las Palmas 1-0.

Internazionale remain two points clear at the top of Serie A after coming from behind to draw 1-1 at nearest rivals Juventus.

Dusan Vlahovic gave the home side the lead after starting and finishing a well-worked move in the 27th minute, but Lautaro Martínez equalised just five minutes later with a first-time finish which capped a stunning team goal. The match petered out in the second half and Juve never seriously threatened to complete a sixth consecutive win which would have taken

them a point clear at the summit.

Paulo Dybala scored one goal and set up another as Roma won 3-1 at home against Udinese in Serie A. Nine minutes before the end, the Argentine put Roma back in front when received a pass from Romelu Lukaku and slotted it in from inside the area. Roma had opened the scoring after 20 minutes when Gianluca Mancini headed home Dybala’s free-kick, but Udinese equalised just before the hour mark with a headed goal of their own through Florian Thauvin.

Stephan El Shaarawy sealed the win for Roma in the 90th minute with a well-placed shot from a tight angle inside the area. Roma move to fifth in the table with 21 points, three points behind Napoli in fourth. Udinese are 16th.

First-half goals from Jonathan David and Tiago Santos helped Lille to a comfortable 2-0 win at bottom club Lyon to close up on third-placed Monaco in Ligue 1.

The Hoffenheim goalkeeper Oliver Baumann saved a penalty to help preserve a 1-1 draw against Mainz in the Bundesliga. Marco Richter opened the scoring in the 39th minute for Mainz before Robert Skov equalised in the 48th. Baumann saved Aymen Barkok’s spot-kick in the 68th minute. The draw means Mainz remain in danger, in 16th place, after 12 matches. Hoffenheim stay sixth. Promoted Heidenheim drew 0-0 with Bochum.
