The Kutztown Dolphins swim team season is off to a great start this summer with two wins and one loss. The Dolphins won their first team meet against Wyomissing Hills, 226-145. The second meet was not as successful for the Dolphins as they suffered their first lost since 2015 against Lincoln Park, 263-216. The Dolphins did not let this deter them for at their latest meet against Wyomissing, which they won 250-194. Also, at the first invitational of the summer season, the Topton Need for Speed invite, the Dolphins took home the High Points Trophy winning it against 16 other teams.

However, the Dolphins like to do more than simply win. There are also several records that have been broken so far for the 2016 season. Charles Rumble beat a record for the 8-and-under in the 100-meter individual medley with a time of 1:53.31. Cole Chukoskie swam fast for the 11- and 12-year-olds in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:47.15. The 13-14-year old girls’ medley relay of Paige McKenna, Greta Feiertag, Micaela Hersh and Skylar Strunk swam the race in 2:14.50 to break a team record set in 2007.

The Dolphins were set to conclude their season on July 27 against Fleetwood in a meet postponed from Monday due to inclement weather. The night was to include a 50th anniversary celebration. Also, everyone is invited to come and have fun at the Luau Pool Party on Friday, July 29th at the Kutztown Pool from 8-10 p.m. Music, food and fun for a $5 admission.

The Dolphins are fortunate to be supported by a long list of business sponsors. For sponsors and all other information about the Kutztown Dolphins’ program, visit www.kutztowndolphins.org.
