Mucelli leading Bucknell field hockey

Kutztown grad a senior captain for Bisons

AMY MUCELLI (KUTZTOWN)

>> The senior midfielder has made six starts for the Bucknell field hockey team which is 3-3 after six games this season. Mucelli, a team captain, picked up an assist on the second goal in the season-opening 2-0 victory over Rutgers. She had a defensive save in a 9-1 loss to Penn State on Sept. 13. Mucelli was an All-Patriot League second team choice last season. She was a preseason All-Patriot pick this year.

The 6-foot, 160-pound freshman midfielder has started all six games for the Penn State men’s soccer team. He’s seen 441 minutes of action. He’s taken three shots, one on goal, but is still looking for his first collegiate goal. He had 43 goals his senior year at Kutztown and was the top goal-scorer in the state of Pennsylvan­ia.

CASEY RIGHTMYER (TULPEHOCKE­N) >> The 5-foot-3 senior forward has started all seven games for the Shippensbu­rg women’s soccer team. She had the gamewinnin­g goal in a 4-0 victory over Pitt-Johnstown on Sept. 13. It was her 12th career goal after scoring a career-high six goals last season. Rightmyer also helps out on defense, the team 5-2 with all five victories via shutouts including a 1-0 triumph over Golden Beacom on Sept. 13. The Raiders are 3-2 in PSAC action.

ANNA JOHNS (SCHUYLKILL

VALLEY) >> The 5-foot-11 freshman middle hitter leads the Pitt-Johnstown women’s volleyball team in blocks with 27. She also has 41 kills and a solid .323 attack percentage. She had eight kills and five blocks in her first collegiate game,

a 3-1 victory over Henderson State on Sept. 2. She had eight kills in a 3-0 triumph over Franklin Pierce on Sept. 3. The Mountain Cats are 6-4).

RYAN BOLOGA (DANIEL

BOONE) >> Ryan Bologa is having another standout season with the Juniata football team.

The senior linebacker was named Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week after a big performanc­e in the Eagles 4121 victory over Dickinson on Sept. 10. The 5-foot-10, 205-pound Governor Griffin grad had nine tackles, but came up with the big play of the game in the first quarter when the Dickinson quarterbac­k fumbled and Bologa picked it up an raced 22 yards for a touchdown.

Juniata is 3-0 after a 4135 victory over Gettysburg last Saturday and 2-0 in the Centennial. Bologa had six tackles in the game and has 18 in three games.

This is Bologa’s fourth season with Juniata and his third as a starter. He has 189 career tackles with 2.5 sacks. He has two intercepti­ons and his fumble recovery against Dickinson was the fourth of his career and the second resulting in a touchdown.

The Eagles will try to keep their unbeaten record in tact when they travel to Lancaster Saturday for a league game against 2-1 Franklin & Marshall.

ALEX FINNEY (EXETER

TOWNSHIP) >> The senior kicker got off to a slow start with the Sacred Heart football team, going 0-2 in field goals and 0-1 in extra points in an 18-14 victory over Stetson on Sept. 3. But the 6-foot1, 195-pounder was 6-for-6 in extra points on Sept. 10 when the Pioneers belted Valparaiso 42-14. He came back last Saturday in a 31-6 victory over Marist. He was 4-for-4 in extra points and kicked a 30 yard field goal. Sacred Heart (3-0) faces Stony Brook (2-1) Saturday in a Northeast Conference game in Stony Brook, N.Y.

TESSA MUNDELL (GOVERNOR MIFFLIN) >> The senior finished fourth out of 60 runners, third best on her team, to help the James Madison women’s cross country team capture the JMU Invitation­al Sept. 10 in New Market, VA. Her time was 19:56.7 for the 5.2K race.

Mundell, who also competes in indoor and outdoor track for the Dukes, finished 10th in the Colonial Athletic Associatio­n Championsh­ip and seventh in the ECAC Championsh­ips with a personal best 5K time of 18:11.1 last fall.

GABRIELLE STICK (EXETER

TOWNSHIP) >> The 5-foot-10 sophomore middle blocker is a member of the 1-7 Lock Haven women’s volleyball team. She has started all eight matches and played all 30 sets and is tied for second in kills with 39 and third in points with 44.5. She has 18 digs, nine blocks and nine assists. As a freshman, she had 184 kills and led the team with 74 blocks, including a teamhigh 22 solo blocks.

MEGAN MCKAY (GOVERNOR MIFFLIN) >> The 5-foot10 senior forward is leading the 3-3 Slippery Rock field hockey team in scoring. She has four goals and two assists for 10 points and had goals against AIC, Seton Hill and Kutztown. She had a goal and an assist in a 5-2 triumph over Bellarmine last Saturday. McKay had a breakout season as a junior. She started all 18 games and led the team with 16 goals and six assists for 38 points, the goals and points are Slippery Rock one-season records.

ANDREA WYSOCKI (BOYERTOWN) >> The junior midfielder had her best game of the season for the Alvernia field hockey team with two goals including the game-winner in a 4-1 victory over Wilkes last Saturday. He also had an assist in a 5-0 victory over Misericord­ia on Sept. 7.

“Andrea is much more focused this year at practice and her positionin­g on the post has improved which has allowed her to score more goals,” coach Laura Gingrich said. “She is also one of the hardest workers on the team.”

Wysocki entered the season having played in 43 games in her first two seasons and during that time she scored five goals with three assists for 13 points. Junior Breanne Smith (Tulpehocke­n) starts on defense for the Crusaders.

HANNAH ROLAND (OLEY VALLEY) >> The 5-foot-8 junior has started all six games for the 5-1 Messiah field hockey team. She has a defensive save and has helped the No. 8 Falcons outscore foes 21-6 with shutouts over Juniata (3-0) and Haverford (7-0). She was named MAC Commonweal­th Defensive Player of the Week (Sept.12). Messiah’s only loss to date came in the season-opener on Sept. 1 when the Division III squad dropped a 1-0 decision to Shippensbu­rg, the No.2-ranked team in Division II.
