Disabled vehicle on tracks stops train

Norfolk Southern was able to stop oncoming train prior to reaching crossing

A vehicle became disabled while crossing the railroad tracks on South Franklin Street in Fleetwood. Norfolk Southern was contacted an oncoming train was to be to stop.

Fleetwood Borough Police report that at 6:23 p.m. on Feb. 11, Nikki Deangelis, 34, Springfiel­d, Pa., was driving south on South Franklin Street in Fleetwood when her Toyota Avalon became disabled while crossing the railroad tracks.

Police report that Norfolk Southern was contacted and the oncoming train was able to stop before reaching the South Franklin Street railroad crossing.

Traffic was detoured around the area. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed off the railroad tracks.
