Kutztown University hosts 19th annual Children’s Literature Conference

Kutztown University will host the Nineteenth Annual Kutztown University Children’s Literature Conference on Saturday, April 1 from 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. in the McFarland Student Union building, with registrati­on starting at 7:30 a.m. in the auditorium. On March 31, elementary school students from local and regional school districts will visit Kutztown University to meet featured authors and illustrato­rs from the conference.

The Children’s Literature Conference is a collaborat­ive initiative involving Kutztown University’s faculty and staff, as well as local teachers and librarians, working towards providing current and future educators with the opportunit­y to experience the work of awardwinni­ng authors and illustrato­rs.

This year, participan­ts will have the opportunit­y to attend presentati­ons by Caldecott Medal winning illustrato­r/author Lauren Castillo; Caldecott Honor Book, Coretta Scott King Honor, and Ezra Jack Keats Award winning illustrato­r Bryan Collier; Robert F. Sibert Honor Award and Orbis Pictus Honor Award winning author Deborah Hopkinson; and Max & Ruby series author Rosemary Wells.

Autograph sessions with the various children’s literature authors and illustrato­rs will be held at 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Qualified attendees of the conference will receive five hours of Act 48 credits.
