Looking for a chandelier?

How about a bedroom set and cute collectable or an old China cabinet that can be painted to look shabby chic?

The Macomb County Habitat ReStores are now filling orders online.

“The button was pushed late yesterday and sales were made after 5 p.m.,” said Helen Hicks, president and CEO of Macomb Habitat on Thursday. “Internal sales were also extremely robust, reminding us that during the pandemic, many low-income shoppers who were in need of an inexpensive washer, drier, and refrigerator had no store in which to seek those items.”

Visitors to the new website can browse a multitude of popular products from the comfort and safety of their own home. All of the stock that has been donated to the nonprofit have been organized in easy to follow categories - from lighting and furniture to ceiling fans to clocks, artwork and collectibles.

It’s a marvelous virtual market.

“We live and work in an electronic world. Some people simply do not have time make a physical trip to our stores so now, by simply logging into the site, many of the exciting products we have in the stores will be easy to view. This convenient shopping experience can even happen on your phone,” Hicks said.

Those who find their treasure can pay securely via the web and then pick up the item from the Shelby ReStore.

All proceeds from the shop go to support Habitat’s vision to create a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

“We are very excited to be open to serve those valued customers and to also provide a service 24 hours a day,” Hicks said, noting that Habitat’s Ericia Bartels worked countless hours from home to create the new platform for ReStores’ customers. “I could not be more proud of her work.”

Macomb Habitat’s ReStores are located at 9 Mile and Van Dyke in Warren and at 46660 Van Dyke, between 21 Mile and Hall Roads in Shelby Township. Store hours are Tuesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
