State adds 695 cases, six deaths on Friday

Michigan added 695 new confirmed cases of coronaviru­s and six new confirmed deaths due to the virus on Friday, according to the state’s website.

The state now, in total, has 115,384 confirmed cases and 6,638 confirmed deaths.

With 12,113 probable cases and 316 probable deaths, this brings Michigan to 127,500 confirmed and probable cases and 6,954 confirmed and probable deaths.

Probable cases include individual­s who never tested positive for the virus, but who were presumed to be infected due to their symptoms and past exposure.

Similarly, a probable death is defined as those whose death certificat­e listed COVID-19 as a cause of death or a significan­t condition contributi­ng to death.

Averages and Totals

The 7-day average on Friday was about 651 confirmed cases and about 9 confirmed deaths.

The 7-day total was 4,555 new confirmed cases added and 60 confirmed deaths.

So far in September, 12,919 confirmed cases and 154 confirmed deaths have been added, which is an average of about 718 confirmed cases and nine deaths per day for the month.

Of that, 10,715 confirmed cases and 126 confirmed deaths were reported in the first half of the month, from September 1-15, averaging 714 confirmed cases and nine confirmed deaths added per day.

In comparison, August 1-15 added 10,536 confirmed cases and 123 confirmed deaths, averaging 702 confirmed cases and 8 confirmed deaths per day.

August added a total of 20,869 confirmed cases and 265 confirmed deaths, which is an average of about 673 confirmed cases and nine confirmed deaths added per day.

Who was tested?

Health officials have also been tracking results of statewide testing.

To date, 3,602,456 total diagnostic and serology tests have been conducted within the state of Michigan. So far, 3,319,787 diagnostic tests have been conducted.

As of Friday, a total of 85,513 Michigande­rs have recovered from COVID-19 (30 days out from onset of illness), a total which is updated by the state every Saturday.
