These Shamrocks don’t need a four-leaf clover or rabbit’s foot for luck. They can make their own good fortune.

Ken Williams ran for two touchdowns and passed for another in the first half as fast and physical Eastpointe built a 24-0 lead, and the Shamrocks went on to defeat Warren Woods-Tower 40-0 in a MAC Gold Division football game at Memorial Field on Friday night.

Eastpointe’s second victory in as many years over the Titans made the Shamrocks 2-0 to start a season for the first time since 2000. They’ve not allowed a point.

Williams threw a 20-yard pass to Eddie Higginbotham, who completed a leaping touchdown catch by winning a battle with the defensive back for the ball to give the Shamrocks a three-touchdown lead with 10 seconds left in the second quarter.

Dorian Manley then ran for a conversion, tacking on two points the same as Williams and Javon Hawk did after the Shamrocks’ first two touchdowns.

The victory left Eastpointe and Roseville to share the Gold Division lead at 2-0.

Roseville defeated Cousino 44-6 on Thursday.

Eastpointe rode into the game off a 42-0 shutout of St. Clair in Week 1 of the delayed season.

Williams ran one yard for a touchdown with 9:37 left in the second quarter to break a scoreless tie.

His 12-yard touchdown run and Hawk’s conversion with 3:39 to go pushed the lead to 16-0.

“We could get nothing going,” Titans coach Al Gulick said.
