A Warren man was arraigned Tuesday for accidentally firing a gun that left a teenager hospitalized in critical condition during a gathering over the weekend at a house in Roseville.

Donovan Anthony Harbus, 19, was charged in 39th District Court with carrying a concealed weapon and careless discharge of a weapon causing injury. Judge Kathleen Tocco set bond at $25,000 cash or surety.

According to police, the 17-yearold Macomb Township resident whowas struck was an “innocent bystander” in the incident.

Police had initially said two people attending the gathering on Ivanhoe Street had taken out their “illegal weapons” and were displaying them Saturday night

when one of the men accidentally discharged the weapon.

Deputy Police Chief Mitch Berlin on Tuesday clarified the information to make it clear the victim was not one of the individuals with a gun.

“He had nothing to do with it,” Berlin said. “Two guys were showing off their guns, playing with the weapons and one of the guns fired. The victim was sitting across the roomand not involved in any of it.”

Relatives identified the victim in socialmedia posts as Dravin Owens, a twosport athlete who attends South Lake High School in St. Clair Shores.

Owens remains hospitalized in critical conditions, but family members say they are praying he will fully recover.

Anashia Owen s , Drav in ’s sister, in a Fa c e b o o k post urged everyone to keep praying for the young man to pull through.

“Dear all my Facebook friends, especially if you know me, please just take a few minutes out of your day to pray formy brother,” shewrote in her post. “(I)t’s a new day with more hope please say his name.”

Police said the Saturday night gathering was an informal one. They said seven people were sitting in the house talking when the gunfire took place.

“It’s a fairly small house,” Berlin said. “There was no conflict or any type of argument. Unfortunately, there was a shooting and this young man was struck in the head.”

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office earlier Tuesday authorized the criminal charges. The CCW charge is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison, while the careless discharge of a weapon is a high- court misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in prison.

Judge Tocco included an order in the bond prohibitingHarbus fromcontacting the teen if he is able to bond out of jail.
