Library bookstore open; but no donations, please
New books and classics, hardcovers and paperbacks, puzzles, records and DVDS – readers of all ages will find an adventure to read at the Friends of the Warren Public Library.
“It is no secret that the COVID-19 Virus has played havoc on many people this year,” said Naida Okray, president of the Friends of the Warren Public Library. “The virus is showing little regard for our daily lives, and many adjustments have had to be made.”
For a while the bookstore was closed. Then, during late summer the Friends of the Warren Public Library were allowed to take donations.
“Since we have to let the donations sit for at least three days before we try to sort and shelve the items it has created an overflow like we’ve never seen. Consequently, there is no more room to store the items,” Okray said. As a result, all donations have been halted until further notice.
What this means for patrons of the little bookstore housed in an old Village fire station on Beebe Street in Warren is an incredible selection of books and other media.
Bookstore hours through the end of the year:
Oct. 9, 16, 17, 23, and 30 from 9 a.m. - noon; Nov. 6, 13, 20 and 21, 9 a.m.-noon; Dec. 4 and 11, 9 a.m.-noon. The bookstore will close for the holidays and reopen Jan. 8 at 9 a.m.
This leaves patrons plenty of time to find a basket of treasured authors and stories before the holiday season sets in.
“We are very sorry for the inconvenience, but know that patrons will understand,” Okray said.
The Friends of the Warren Public Library is at 5961 Beebe St. in Warren.
