Stallions clinch tie for soccer title
Sterling Heights’ climb to the top is almost complete.
Mladen Stojanovski and Hermez Benjamin scored a goal apiece to lead Sterling Heights to a 2-0 victory over Lakeview that gave the Stallions a share of the MAC Blue Division soccer championship Wednesday night.
Kristjan Juncaj had two assists and JoeDedvukaj andAldinSaljic one apiece as the Stallions scored twice in the second half to raise their division record to 6-2-1 for 19 points with onematch remaining. Sterling Heights is 7-2-1 overall.
The Stallions, who last won a Blue championship in 2015, play Port Huron Northern on Monday in their final divisionmatch.
A win or a tie in that contest would clinch an outright championship.
Sterling Heights finished next to last in the Blue in 2019 and 2018.

Marcus Esse scored the winning goal in the MAC Blue game.
ARMADA 2, CROSWELLLEXINGTON2
Trey Bolda scored both of the Armada goals. Austin Nieporte had an assist in the BWAC game.
RICHMOND8, YALE0
Richmond stayed on pace towin at least a share of the BWAC championship.
EISENHOWER 2, STEVENSON 1
Dominic Nalou scored both of the Eisenhower goals. Brandon Hineman and Devin White had an assist apiece. Eisenhower is 3-1-3 for 12 points in the MAC Red.
GROSSE POINTENORTH3, COUSINO 1
The Norsemen victory tightened the MAC White Division race. Grosse Pointe North is 6-1-2 for 20 points. First-place Cousino is 7-1-1 for 22. In division finales Monday, Cousino plays Romeo and Grosse Pointe North plays L’Anse Creuse North.
Volleyball

Kiley Comiskeymade 15 kills and Julia Valenti 14 to lead Lutheran North to the sweep. Madi Hempel had 20 assists and Madison Link 30 digs. Leah Vermuelen added 16 digs as the Mustangs improved to 4-1 in the Catholic League and 12-1 overall.
CHIPPEWA VALLEY 25-1925-25, LAKEVIEW20-2515-16
Ella Jenson was 12-of-13 serving with six aces and she had 10 digs for Lakeview. Tricia Sankiewicz made four kills, four digs and four blocks. The Huskies are 0-3 in the MAC and 3-6 overall after starting the season with three consecutive victories. “This has been a tough season for us to keep focus,” coach Tom Pfeifer said.
