Police bring in person of interest in double murder

Warren police officials confirmed Friday morning they have brought in a “person of interest” for questionin­g in the relation to themurder of six-year-old Tai’raz Moore and a woman who police said is the boy’s father’s girlfriend.

On Thursday, Oct. 1, Moore and Isis Rimson, 28, were found dead in the basement of a home on Otis Street in Warren near Nine Mile Road and Dequindre. Police had gone to the house to conduct a welfare check after the body of Tai’raz’s father, Tukoyo Moore, 31, had been found hours earlier in a burning car about 12 miles away on Detroit’s east side. All three had been fatally shot with bullets fired at close range to the back of the head.

Warren Police Commission­er William Dwyer said Fridaymorn­ing officers executed a search warrant in West Bloomfield Township, along with Detroit police and federal authoritie­s, and that a person was brought in for questionin­g. Dwyer said the private residence is located in the area of Long Lake and Middle Belt in West Bloomfield Township. Evidence was also removed from the home.

Dwyerwould­n’t say early Friday afternoon if the person was still in police custody.

According to a Detroit police commander, officers found Tukoyo Moore’s body in the back seat of a burned-out car in the Hyde Park community at the Dequindre Cut near downtown Detroit around

4 a.m. Oct. 1. Tukoyo was the father of Tai-raz and Rimson’s boyfriend.

The car was registered to an address on Otis in Warren. Detroit police asked their counterpar­ts in Warren to notify the family of the discovery of the man’s body and conduct a welfare check.

When Warren off icers arrived on Otis, they found the door open. After entering the house, police found the victims’ bodies.
