Stabbing suspect expected to be charged
A Mount Clemens man suspected of stabbing another man at a Clinton Township landscaping storage lot is in police custody.
The suspect is expected to be charged Friday on charges of assault with intent to murder.
Clinton Township police were dispatched about 6 p.m. Tuesday to a storage lot on the 43000 block of North Avenue, north of Elizabeth Road, for a report of a stabbing.
“Basically what happened was two men were arguing about a storage container not being placed back neatly, and the suspect went into his car, got a knife and attacked the other guy,” said Capt. Richard Maierle.
The suspect then got back into his vehicle and drove off.
When police arrived, they learned the suspect’s name from the victim and put out an area alert to other law enforcement agencies.
A short time later, his vehicle was spotted by a Chesterfield Township police officer.
Police tried to make a traffic stop, but the suspect vehicle went down 23 Mile Road to Interstate 94. Chesterfield police pursued the car as it headed east toward St. Clair County.
During the pursuit, the suspect is accused of intentionally ramming two
Chesterfield patrol cars. He eventually crashed his vehicle into a ditch near County Line Road and was taken into custody.
It is not known if the suspect faces any charges in relation to the Chesterfield incident. Police could not be reached for comment.
Maierle said the victim suffered non-lifethreatening stab wounds to chest and shoulder. He was listed in good condition at an area hospital on Wednesday.
