Burlington set to open store today

Burlington Stores, the national retailer promising to deliver deals to customers every time they shop, will open a new store in Chesterfie­ld Township today.

Located in Waterside Marketplac­e near 23 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue, Burlington’s new store features a fresh design that creates a clean and simple shopping experience for customers, making it easy to navigate. Customers will find a wide selection of items, including women’s apparel and accessorie­s, menswear, children’s clothing, footwear, baby items, home décor, gifts, pet needs and essential items.

“We are thrilled to open a new Burlington in Chesterfie­ld, providing employment opportunit­ies and offering the community great values on brand name merchandis­e for the entire family and home,” said Burlington Stores CEO Michael O’Sullivan. “Whether they’re looking for brand name clothing, stylish home décor items, baby products or everyday essentials, customers will discover fantastic bargains on new merchandis­e arriving regularly.”

Burlington will celebrate the grand opening of its 21st Michigan location with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:45 a.m. Friday outside of the store. Giveaways are also planned.

Following the ribboncutt­ing ceremony, the first 100 customers ages 18 and older will receive a $5 Burlington gift card.

Customers who stop by the store Saturday will receive a free Burlington umbrella.

Also to mark the opening of the new store, Burlington, through its partnershi­p with AdoptAClas­sroom.org, will present a donation of $5,000 to Higgins Elementary School, a L’Anse Creuse school in Chesterfie­ld Township.

The funds will be used to support teachers and their classrooms so they can purchase materials needed for their students to better learn and succeed. Principal Susan Trebilcock is expected to attend the ceremony.

Throughout the year, the new store will also join in other initiative­s, such as the annual Burlington Coat Drive, supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and participat­ing in the AdoptAClas­sroom.org campaign.

With the safety and wellbeing of customers and associates a top priority, the company has implemente­d social distancing practices at the new store, including the following measures:

• Spacious store layout.

• Signage to remind customers and associates to practice social distancing and remain at least 6 feet apart.

• Customers are expected to wear face masks. If a customer does not have a mask but wishes to wear one, they will provide them one. Masks are mandatory for all associates.

• They will take proactive steps to routinely clean and disinfect all areas of the store, including frequently cleaning high-touch areas, providing sanitizati­on materials throughout, making shopping cart wipes available, and have deep cleaning response plans in place .

The company has hired about 60 associates to work at the new location and is still hiring. Interested candidates can find more informatio­n at burlington­stores.jobs.
