DAKOTA, ROSEVILLE SET UP CLASH IN REGIONAL

Dakota and Roseville made a date with one another.

Josh Hines, Ethan Mair and Tyler Baron scored 16 points apiece to lead Dakota to a 73-59 victory over Port Huron Northern in a Division 1 district basketball championsh­ip game Saturday.

At L’Anse Creuse, Derrek Bolton scored 16 points to lead Roseville to a 52-47 victory over Lake Shore.

Next for the Panthers is a game against Dakota at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in a regional semifinal game at Troy. In the other semifinal, Chippewa Valley plays Stoney Creek.

Playing on their home floor, the Cougars had all five starters in doubles figures as Tymias Williams scored 13 points and Owen Colpaert 10 to help Dakota improve to 11-1 and advance.

Hines also had seven rebounds, five assists and three steals; Mair five assists; Williams 10 rebounds and Baron and Colpaert five rebounds apiece.

Sophomore Tyler Jamison scored 34 points and had 18 rebounds and five assists for Port Huron Northern.

“He played a great game,” Dakota coach Paul Tocco said.

Ryan McNeill had eight points and 11 rebounds in his final game for PHN.

The Huskies led 35-29 at halftime. “Overall, it was a great team win,” Tocco said. “We came together and played much better in the second half. It was a total team effort in the second half.

“Port Huron Northern played very well and gave us everything we can handle.” Dakota has won eight games in a row. “I’m proud of the boys for taking care of business on and off the court in this crazy COVID season,” Tocco said.

ROSEVILLE 52, LAKE SHORE 47

Mark Alexander had 13 points to complement Bolton’s scoring for Roseville. Bolton made four free throws and Alexander and Makell Dobbs Johnson two apiece in the fourth quarter. Jason Hunter had a pair of 3-point field goals. Nick Olmeda scored 15 points in his final Lake Shore game. Joe Washburn had eight points. The Shorians outscored Roseville 14-8 in the third quarter to draw to within 36-31.

CHIPPEWA VALLEY 67, FORD 54

Ryan Schuster had 19 points and nine rebounds and Devin Lilly had 17 points as Chippewa Valley won the district final at Troy Athens.

Ford, which picked up its first victory of the season Thursday in a semifinal win over Stevenson, led 13-9 after one quarter.

“Ford played and competed very well,” Chippewa Valley coach Corey Smith said. “They played hard and handled our pressure pretty well.”

Brandon Thomas scored 16 points and Shane Timko 12 for the Falcons.

Chippewa Valley had single-digit leads for the middle of the game.

Schuster and Lilly made 3-pointers in the fourth to expand the lead.

Lilly scored 46 points in the final two games of the tournament. He had 29 against Troy Athens on Thursday.

The Big Reds play Stoney Creek in a regional semifinal Tuesday.

EASTPOINTE 58, LINCOLN 52 (OT)

Eastpointe won a Division 2 district title on its home floor.

CROSWELL-LEXINGTON 83, ARMADA 53

BWAC champion Croswell-Lexington won the Division 2 district at Yale with its third win this season over Armada.

NEW HAVEN 45, LUTHERAN NORTH 40

Brent Wiles scored 17 points and took seven rebounds to lead New Haven in the Division 2 district final played at New Haven. The Rockets (7-5) play at the Croswell-Lexington regional beginning Tuesday.

Dani DeCruydt of Lake Shore defeated Flint Kearsley’s Allison Robbins 426-402 in the championsh­ip match of the state Division 2 singles tournament at Century Bowl in Waterford.
