Party town, entertainment capitol of Macomb County, county seat.

Over the years, Mount Clemens has picked up these taglines and others for its extensive collection of bars and restaurants, home of nonprofit organizations, an array of Macomb County government services and interesting-looking buildings and houses.

The city is now launching a community survey to gauge the public’s perception of Mount Clemens as part of its rebranding project to be used for developing a new visual identity and vision for the community.

City Manager Donald Johnson said in a news release the goal of the rebrand is to help the city de

velop its own authentic, cohesive identity that will contribute to economic development and elevate the city’s reputation for those living in and around Mount Clemens.

“One of the best aspects about Mount Clemens is the different perspectives of the people who live and work here,” Johnson said in the release. “With this survey, we are hoping to gather thoughts from people across all corners of the city before we start conceptualizing the new brand. This way, the new citywide brand will accurately represent our people and reflect their thoughts.”

The 10-minute online survey includes questions aimed to collecting opinions on the community’s thoughts on Mount Clemens, ranging from its best assets to reputation and opportunities for growth.

Everyone is invited to participate in the survey, including its 16,500 residents along with non-residents and business owners.

The rebranding project is a partnership between the City of Mount Clemens and Redhead Design Studio, a Lansingbased branding agency that specializes in strategy and marketing for social change. Redhead has experience working on city branding projects and was unanimously approved as the city’s branding firm at the Feb. 16 Mount Clemens City Commission meeting.

According to city officials, the project began during the strategic planning process when the Mount Clemens City Commission made establishing a citywide brand as one of its main objectives under its economic development goal.

Redhead Design Studio’s website says the firm specializes in brand strategy and marketing for social change and change cultural behavior.

The survey is available at surveymonkey.com/r/ MountClemensBrandSurvey and will be open until April 30. Paper copies of the survey are also available and able to be completed at City Hall, 1 Crocker Boulevard.

All responses are confidential, and will not be shared outside of City Hall.
