Eight and One-Half Mile Relief Drain NOTICE OF PROJECT PLAN PUBLIC HEARING

The Macomb County Public Works Office on behalf of the Intra-County Drainage Board for the Eight and One-Half Mile Relief Drain will hold a public hearing for the purpose of receiving public comments and input regarding the proposed State Revolving Fund (SRF 5685-01) Project Plan Amendment for the Eight and One-Half Mile Relief Drain. The public hearing will be held virtually at 5:30 p.m., April 26, 2021. If interested in attending the public hearing, please contact MCPWOprojectinfo@macombgov.org for meeting access information. The Plan focuses on providing redundancy to the existing Chapaton Pump Station and increasing storage in the sewer system during wet weather events in order to reduce the volume and frequency of treated combined sewer overflows into Lake St. Clair. The Plan consists of the construction of two projects:

• 9 Mile Pump Station

• 8 ½ Mile Relief Drain In-System Storage Devices

The estimated project cost for both projects is $50,463,300. The Drainage District is requesting an SRF loan for the construction costs only which are estimated at $41,027,000. There are no estimated cost increases anticipated with the SRF loan to the City of Saint Clair Shores. The estimated increase to the annual budget associated with the SRF loan to the City of Eastpointe is $73,877 (2% increase).

All interested parties are invited to present comments on the proposed Project Plan. Written comments may be submitted to the Macomb County Public Works Office, Attn. Written comments may be received no later than May 7, 2021, for them to be considered as part of the public record.
