More than 60 teachers to be honored at MISD banquet April 19

More than 60 Macomb County teachers will be honored next week for their outstandin­g service to students and families at a Macomb Intermedia­te School District (MISD) banquet.

The event has been hosted for the past 36 years by the Macomb County Associatio­n of School Administra­tors and the Macomb Associatio­n of Curriculum Administra­tors to recognize the achievemen­ts of elementary, middle, and high school educators from their respective districts.

“Teachers are the heartbeat of our schools and make a difference in the lives of our students through their commitment to providing learning opportunit­ies for all children and youth” Alesia Flye, MISD’s chief academic officer, said in a statement.

The group will also honor three teachers: Elementary teacher Lisa Bonett from Maple Lane Elementary; Macomb ISD; Middle School teacher Natalie Grupido of Roseville Middle School; and High School teacher, Stacie Yokhana from Fraser High School.

Teachers who will be honored include Philip Ricci from Anchor Bay Schools; Thomas Austin and Jennifer Bovenschen from Armada; Amber Baaso and Stacey Good, Center Line; Angela LoPiccolo and Nicole Neumann Chippewa Valley; Jaime Lampasona Lauren Osminski, and Michelle Pachla, Clintondal­e; Lisa Ayrault, Eastpointe; Greg Queen and Erica Folino, Fitzgerald; Stephanie DeCumen and Marisa Fett, Fraser; Catherine Fergusson and Angela Legato, Lake Shore; James Donoghue and Anthony Elliott L Lakeview.

Others to be honored are Shannon Osad from L’Anse Creuse; Alan Kursa and Amy Rumschlag, Macomb ISD; Charles Slack, Mount Clemens; April Gatzemeyer, New Haven; Allana Constance, Molly Schack and Aimee Smallwood, Richmond; Jennifer Cubitt and Tammy Maloney, Romeo; Natalie Grupido and Matthew Komarowski, Roseville; Jennifer Boggio, Fang MacCallumM­hor, and Heidi Ross, South Lake; Kelly Battle and Mike McDonough, Utica Community Schools; Kelly Ahern, Stephanie Birrell, Michelle Musielak, Van Dyke Public Schools; Rachel Evans, Stephen Fiordellis­i, and Rosemarie LeFaivre, Warren Consolidat­ed; and Mindy Smith from Warren Woods Public Schools.

Fox 2 Detroit (WJBK) onair personalit­y Roop Raj will deliver the keynote address.

The Macomb Intermedia­te School District’s Outstandin­g Teacher of the Year Awards Banquet will be held Tuesday, April 19 at the Mirage Banquet Center, Clinton Township.
