Whitmer announces Macomb appointments
Steve Cooper of Shelby Township and director of public safety for the City of Oak Park has been appointed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to the Automobile Theft Prevention Authority Board of Directors.
“I am honored to have been selected for appointment to the Automobile Theft Prevention Authority Board of Directors by Governor Whitmer,” said the Oak Park director of public safety. “Automobile theft is a challenge not just here in Michigan but throughout the United States. I am looking forward to working with the other members of the board to help eliminate this problem that victimizes so many citizens.”
Cooper’s appointment is one of several announced Monday by the governor’s office.
Cooper, who earned a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from Ferris State University, has been appointed to represent law enforcement officials for a term commencing April 8, 2022 and expiring July 1, 2022. He succeeds Curtis Caid, who resigned.
The Michigan Automobile Theft Prevention Authority assesses the scope of the problem of motor vehicle theft, analyzes various methods of combating the problem, establishes a plan for providing financial support to combat motor vehicle theft and grants funds for theft prevention teams.
This appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
Jonathan M. Vono, of Shelby Township, a clinical manager for Henry Ford Health System in Detroit was also appointed by Whitmer to serve on the Michigan Board of Respiratory Care.
Vono earned a bachelor of general studies degree from the University of MichiganDearborn.
“Representing Henry Ford Health on the board, for me shows that we care about not just our own patients and team members, but care about the health and well-being of every single person in the state,” said Vono. “My appointment is another way we our deepening our commitment to quality, safety, and innovative thinking. We’ve gained an incredible amount of knowledge through this pandemic and look forward to translating the losses, struggles and challenges into innovations and achievements that can ensure all Michigan residents have access to welltrained and highly-qualified respiratory therapists.”
Vono was reappointed to represent respiratory therapists for a term commencing April 8, 2022 and expiring December 31, 2025.
