Eisenhower defeats Dakota in extra innings

Josh Bussineau scored from third base in the 10th inning to lift Eisenhower to a 3-2 victory over Dakota in a MAC Red Division baseball game Friday.

Bussineau singled with two outs, and the Eagles loaded the bases on a walk to Lukas Zahuranic and an infield single by Luke Aniel. Bussineau scored when a pitch got past the Dakota catcher.

Aaron Thorpe had a double and an RBI as Eisenhower improved to 5-3 in the division and 8-6 overall.

Daniel Bruzdewicz, Jake Verellen and Logan Sandri pitched for the Eagles, combining to allow five hits and no walks.

Eisenhower trails first-place Grosse Pointe South by one-half game in the division.

STEVENSON 14, FORD 2

Winning pitcher Evan Wypij hit a three-run home run and Jordan Kwiatkowsk­i connected with one teammate on board to spark Stevenson. Alex Pierce had three hits, including a double, and drove in a run and walked twice. Wypij allowed six hits in five innings.

ROMEO 5, GROSSE POINTE

SOUTH 4

Buster Debol’s hit drove in the winning run. Nick Schneider singled in the tying run in the eighth inning and earned the victory in relief. Jozef Modlinski had three hits as the Bulldogs leveled their division record at 4-4.

PARKWAY CHRISTIAN 8-9, CLARENCEVI­LLE 3-0

Ethan Bishop and DJ Quest had an RBI apiece in a three-run seventh inning that helped Parkway Christian win the opener. Mark Nesler Jr. hit a sacrifice fly and Dane Mazek had two hits. Bishop had two of the Eagles’ nine stolen bases. Bishop struck out 10 in the second game. Jack Wolgast, Frank Collins III, Nesler and Mazel drove in a run apiece as the Eagles scored six runs in the fourth inning. Nesler had two doubles among his three hits and Collins had two hits.

RICHMOND 5, CARDINAL MOONEY 2

Bennett Hitzelberg­er had two hits, including a double that gave Richmond the lead during a three-run sixth inning. Jackson Jones also had two hits. Brice Wesley pitched the first three innings and struck out six. Ryan Nettles worked innings 4-6 and earned the victory, and Hudson Davenport struck out two in the seventh. Richmond is 16-4.

L’ANSE CREUSE NORTH 5, UTICA 3

Luke Lindsay drove in the winning run in the sixth inning. Utica’s Tim Geottes had two hits and Mason Brodi scored two runs.

FRASER 6-3, LAKEVIEW 2-2

Mason Jenkins drove in two runs to lead Fraser in the first game of the MAC Blue doublehead­er. Brady Berezowsky struck out 11 in the second game.

Softball

GROSSE POINTE NORTH 5, CHIPPEWA VALLEY 2

Natalie Babcock, Katelyn Barr and Jenna Winowicki had two hits apiece to lead Grosse Pointe North. Babcock drove in two runs, including one with a twoout triple. Maraina Smith pitched a complete game with five strikeouts. Chippewa Valley’s Paige Maiorona had two hits, and Kennedi Pochmara scored both runs. In a 9-1 victory over Eisenhower, Jessica Alway had four hits, two stolen bases and scored three runs. Winowicki had three RBI and Sophia Borowski two. Katherine Listman had two of the Norsemen’s 13 hits. Kira Stacey, Katie Bruzdewicz and Sage Peterson had two hits apiece for Eisenhower.

CLARENCEVI­LLE 11, PARKWAY CHRISTIAN 7

Parkway Christian’s Caroline Schlaf drove in three runs and scored four in the doublehead­er that was swept by Clarencevi­lle. Kennedy Crouse and Carlee Morgan had two hits apiece.

L’ANSE CREUSE 20, ROSEVILLE 1

Maddy Shanahan had a home run and collected four of L’Anse Creuse’s 22 hits. Winning pitcher Jenny Diener didn’t allow a hit in four innings. Alyssa Strohl had five hits and Abby Price four, including two doubles. Anne Matheson and Rylee Lozen had three hits and three RBI apiece as the Lancers raised their record to 5-6.

LAKEVIEW 5, MARYSVILLE 5

Kaitlyn Cain hit a grand slam and Brandi Bassett scored four runs for Marysville. Lakeview improved to 3-3 in the MAC White Division. Marysville is 2-3 in the White.

Soccer

STERLING HEIGHTS 8, MARINE CITY 0

Junior Mikalah Lews scored five goals to push her team-leading total to 20. Layna Morgan scored twice and Katie DuBay scored once.

MARYSVILLE 1, WARREN WOODS-TOWER 0

Sophia Lukitsch’s goal lifted Marysville to the MAC Gold Division victory.
