Roy William Meissner was born on March 22, 1925, to Roy Bernhart & Mary Ann Meissner in Chicago, IL. After Roy graduated from KelSchool vyn Park High in January 1943, he signed up for the Natraining vy’s V-5 pilot program. He worked at Sears while waiting for the Navy to call him up. After finishing at Pensacola, N.A.S. in October ‘45, he went to Wright Jr. College and eventually went to Illinois Institute of Technology. After graduating with a degree in engineerin­g, he started his first job at Minneapoli­s-Honeywell and finally ended up in his career at Fairbanks-Morse Inc as a pump salesman for 31 years. After those years at F-M, he then worked at Hydrodynam­ics, Inc. He had a wonderful 8 more years rebuilding and repairing many pumps and starting a new dyFinally, nasty of pump installati­ons. Roy retired and spent his time becoming the president of the condo associatio­n they moved to, walking and hikreading, cross country skiing, golfing, bowling, ing, and playing bridge. In 1942, Roy got to know Fern Lois Thorsen in their high school chemistry class at Kelvyn Park High School in Chicago, IL. That summer, they accidental­ly met again at the North Avenue beach and spent many days enjoying the beach. They became a couple while attending Wright Jr. College in the fall of 1945 and were maron ried on August 23, 1947. Roy & Fern went to have 4 children, Caryn (Nick) Kozel, Roy Meissner Jr., Marilyn (Van) Frazee, and Caryl (Bill) Davidprede­ceased son. Roy was by his daughter, Caryn, and his loving wife, Fern. He is survived by his son, Roy, and daughters, Marilyn and Caryl. He also is survived by 18 grandchild­ren, 41 great-grandchilw­ill dren, and 5 great-great-grandchild­ren. Services be held at Kauls Funeral Home, 35201 Garfield Rd, Clinton Twp., MI 48035 on Wednesday, December 14, at 12:00 noon. Visitation is at 11:00 am.
